Aftercare Instructions

VonZantuk Ink | Tattoo Aftercare Guide

Congratulations on your new tattoo! Please follow these instructions carefully to ensure your tattoo heals brightly and clearly. This method uses Saniderm (a protective bandage) and Hustle Butter (a premium aftercare ointment) for optimal results.

Important: Leave the Saniderm On!

Your tattoo is covered with a breathable, waterproof adhesive bandage. This is your first layer of healing. Please keep the initial Saniderm bandage on for 24-48 hours.

During this time, it is normal to see:

  • A buildup of plasma, ink, and blood under the bandage. This fluid may look dark and cloudy.
  • The bandage may feel tight against the skin.
  • Some redness around the edges of the bandage.

What to avoid:

  • Do not submerge the bandage in water (no baths, swimming, saunas). Showers are fine.
  • Avoid excessive sweating or direct sun exposure.
  • Do not pick at the edges of the bandage.

Step 1: Removing the First Bandage (After 24-48 Hours)

  1. Wash your hands.
  2. The best way to remove Saniderm is in a warm shower. The steam and water will help loosen the adhesive.
  3. Gently peel the bandage off under running water, pulling it slowly parallel to your skin (stretch it sideways, don’t rip it upward). Discard the used bandage.
  4. Gently wash the tattoo with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free antibacterial soap (like Dial Gold or Provon). Use only your clean hands—no washcloths or loofahs.
  5. Pat the tattoo completely dry with a clean paper towel. Do not rub it. Let it air dry for 15-20 minutes.

Step 2: The Healing Process (Days 2-14)

After the Saniderm is removed, your tattoo will begin to breathe and heal openly.

  1. Wash Gently: Wash your tattoo 2-3 times a day using the method described above.
  2. Apply Hustle Butter: After your tattoo is completely dry, apply a VERY THIN layer of Hustle Butter. A little goes a long way!
    • Rub it in until it’s absorbed and your skin has a slight matte sheen. It should not look shiny, greasy, or feel slick.
    • The goal is to keep the tattoo moisturized, not suffocated.
  3. Repeat the wash-and-moisturize process 2-3 times a day for the next 2 weeks, or until the tattoo is no longer flaky or peeling.

What to Expect & Important Rules:

  • Itching & Peeling: Your tattoo will start to itch and flake, much like a sunburn. This is normal. DO NOT SCRATCH, PICK, OR PEEL THE SKIN. This can pull out ink and lead to scarring and patchy healing. Slapping it gently or applying a thin layer of Hustle Butter can relieve the itch.
  • No Soaking: Do not soak your tattoo in tubs, pools, hot tubs, or the ocean until it is fully healed (2-3 weeks).
  • No Sun Exposure: Healed skin is new, sensitive skin. Keep your tattoo out of the sun and away from tanning beds. Once fully healed, always apply a high-SPF sunscreen to protect the vibrancy of your tattoo.
  • Wear Clean, Loose Clothing: Avoid tight clothing that may rub against and irritate the healing tattoo.
