Getting a custom tattoo should be a clear, collaborative, and exciting journey. This page outlines each step, from your initial idea to the final aftercare, so you know exactly what to expect when working with me.

Step 1: The Inquiry & Consultation

It all starts with your idea.

• How to Reach Out: The best way to initiate a project is through my booking platform on Venue or via email at Matthew.Peterson@vonzantukink.com.
• What to Include: Please provide as much detail as you can:
  • Your tattoo concept (subject matter, style, symbolism).
  • The desired size and placement on your body.
  • Any reference images you have collected.
  • Your general budget range or request a quote.
• The Consultation: For custom projects, we will schedule a brief consultation (via email or in-person). This is where we discuss your vision in depth, I can offer my artistic input, and we ensure we’re on the same path before moving forward.

Step 2: Booking & Design

Securing your spot and bringing your idea to life.

• The Deposit: To secure your appointment date, a non-refundable deposit is required. This deposit is deducted from the final price of your tattoo and protects the time I spend designing for you.
• The Design Process: I do not send out final design drawings before the appointment. This protects my original artwork and ensures a collaborative final review. I will have the design ready for you to see at your appointment, where we can make any minor adjustments together.

Step 3: The Appointment Day

Your vision becomes a reality.

• Preparation:
  • Be well-rested, hydrated, and have eaten a good meal within a few hours of your session.
  • Avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medications (like aspirin) for 24 hours prior.
  • Wear appropriate clothing that allows easy access to the area being tattooed.
• At the Studio: We will start by reviewing the final design and placing the stencil. Once you approve the placement and size, the tattooing will begin. My studio is a private, focused space designed for your comfort. Please feel free to bring headphones, a book, or just relax.

Step 4: Aftercare & Healing

Protecting your investment and my art.

• Before You Leave: I will provide you with a detailed, written aftercare guide and walk you through it. My preferred method uses Saniderm (a protective bandage) and Hustle Butter (a premium moisturizer) for optimal healing.
• The Healing Process: Your tattoo will typically take 2-3 weeks to heal on the surface. It is crucial that you follow the aftercare instructions meticulously to avoid infection and ensure the tattoo heals brightly and clearly.
• Touch-Ups: I stand by my work. Free touch-ups are offered within 3-6 months of your initial appointment, at my discretion. Touch-ups needed due to improper aftercare may incur a fee.
